About Backfire

Paul Garbutt wishes to create accessible, interactive & healthily competitive social events, based around interesting mechanical vehicles. To this end, BACKFIRE Socials were formed in 2016.

May 2017 saw the first Bikes at the Bridge Social, followed by others in July and September where we hosted the destination for the North Yorkshire DGR charity ride & and then a final event in October 2017.

January 2018 saw us create the A166 Swap Meet & Social at the Murton Farming Museum near to York and a further one in the March.

We supported Howdens first Vintage Day in May & headed to Whitby to join with the organisers of the very successful Whitby Steampunk Weekend in the July, with our Mechanical Mayhem display.

August saw us attend the Hornsea Biker Event to promote Race the Waves at Bridlington.

September saw the culmination of years of thought and design, create the ‘Unique to the UK’, ‘BACKFIRE Race the Waves’ in Bridlington.

A set of crazy ideas supported by the best individuals money couldn’t buy. We all thought on our feet knowing we were to produce a theatre of automotion with no rehearsal..
Our received feedback speaks volumes…
